Grading will be the same as last year, for Tuesday 11 & Under, Friday 13 & Under and Friday 15 & Under. Fixtures will be received one week at a time for the first four weeks, and then after the 4 weeks of grading you will receive a complete fixture for the last 12 rounds.  AFL Barwon are hoping this process will allow them to make sure the competitions are even. So when you look up fixtures for these three grades you will only see the first round.  Please note it is your responsibility to check the fixture – you may also receive this information from your Team manger as well but ultimately it is the players responsibility to be on time to each game at least 15 minutes prior to each game.
ATTENDANCE

If your player cannot make a game or training please advise your coach and or team manager.  It is not satisfactory to not turn up.  If a parent is scheduled for scoring etc they must attend or organise a replacement or swap.

MEMBERSHIPS AND VNA

No player can take the court without being a financial member of St Mary’s Sporting Club and holding a 2016 VNA.  I will advise via email after Easter those players who do not have either of these items.  If you know your daughter does not have a valid VNA or you have not paid membership please do so in the next week.  This will help a lot.

COACHES AND TEAM MANAGERS

We need both team managers and coaches for most teams.  If you are interested in either role – please email me.   Without volunteers we will be unable to field the number of teams required to get all players on the court.

Netball Dresses

We will hopefully have all dresses in place for the start of the season.  If you have a spare dress at home or would like to sell a second had dress please contact me on f.greig@bigpond.net.au and we will arrange access the dress for players to purchase or borrow.

WEATHER

GFL and Netball Geelong Junior netball is a winter sport.  Assume you are playing a game and training will be taking place unless you are advised otherwise.  In most cases teams will train and play, unless it is deemed unsafe to do so.  We are unable to cancel training prior to 15 minutes before the start of the training 3:45 pm and teams will train if there is light rain.

We have no say for game nights this is decided by AFL Barwon.  It is not uncommon for games to commence before the round is called off.  When we are advised we will advise you.  If training or a game is cancelled you will be notified via a text message from your coach/team manager and we will make a post on the website, Twitter and Facebook page.

PLAYER/PARENT/SUPPORTER CODE OF CONDUCT

Respect for your own team mates, the other team, coaches and umpires is essential.  To this end the Club has a Player/Parent/Supporter Code of Conduct.   It is available on the web please ensure you read.  Please remember we are all volunteers.  We will willingly consider all advice or suggestions and we are all here for the benefit of our children and their development.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • No player is to ask another player to leave a team or say they are unwelcome.  Teams are created to under the banner of St Mary’s Sporting Club – not any one group or school team.
  • Coaches, Team Managers, Parents and players should not approach the umpire during or after netball netball.  The only person who is able to approach an umpire is a the team captain.
  • Every team is expected to have a person wearing the yellow hi-vis vest that is responsible for the first aid for the team.  In most cases this will be the team manager.
  • All parents are required to be rostered on for scoring and oranges/snakes if the team decides to do this.

COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE

Please contact your coach or team manager first and try to resolve the issue, if unresolved or unsuitable to go to the coach or team manager of your team, please contact me.  If the complaint is serious enough we have a Complaints Procedure that will be used.

SOCIAL MEDIA

The Club has a Cyber Bullying and Social Media Policy that will be enforced.   AFL Barwon also has a Social Media policy that will be enforced upon any individual who is in breech.  This includes fines and suspension penalties.  We would expect parents to assist with any unsuitable activity relating to netball on your child’s social media accounts.  If parents  need to bring something to our attention, please do so and we will take the appropriate action.

SKILLS DAY

We will have another skills day in May for 11/U and 13/U players.  We will advise these dates.
