Return to Play Weekend 13,14,15 August 2021

The latest from AFL Barwon on the remainder of the season.

RETURN TO PLAY AUGUST 9, 2021
With the Victorian Government announcing the recommencement to community sport Monday 9th August at 11:59PM, there has needed to be some adjustments made to the season fixture dates. We must remind the community that crowds are not able to attend upon returning to play. This is not our desired outcome, but we know that we need to “Play On” at all costs, so that the season is given the best possibility to be completed.

The following schedule will come into effect for each competition pending any further changes to restrictions.

Geelong Football Netball League
There are two remaining rounds where clubs are yet to play against each other. The current scheduled rounds 16 and 17 will be the next rounds to be played. The dates will be pushed back one week with the Round 16 fixtures to be played on August 14th followed by the scheduled Round 17 fixtures to be played on Saturday, August 21st.

New finals dates would be as follows:

Week 1 – 28th / 29th August
Week 2 – 4th / 5th September
Week 3 – 11th September
Week 4 – 18th September

Under 19 Football & Netball
All Under 19 football competitions will recommence playing in line with the aligned senior dates.
Under 19 Division 1 Football / Under 19 GFNL Netball – GFNL Return to Play.

Epworth Senior. Under 18 & Under 15 Female Football Competitions
The finals dates will be pushed back one week with the first week of finals to be played on August 15^th.

New finals dates would be as follows:

Week 1 – 15th August
Week 2 – 22nd August
Week 3 – 29th August

AFL Barwon Junior Football Competitions (Under 17, 15, 13, 11, 10, 9’s)

The dates will be pushed back one week with the Round 16 (Saturday, August 7th) fixtures to be played on August 14th. The finals structures will revert to 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3 with the winners progressing to the Grand Final.

Finals dates would be as follows:

Week 1 – 21st / 22nd August
Week 2 – 28th / 29th August

Friday Netball Competitions

The dates will be pushed back one week with the Round 12 (Friday, August 6th) fixtures to be played on August 13th. The finals structures will revert to 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3 with the winners progressing to the Grand Final.

Finals dates would be as follows:

Week 1 – 20th August
Week 2 – 27th August

Tuesday Netball Competitions

All Tuesday night junior netball competitions will recommence playing in line with the current fixtures when restrictions are eased. Dates will not be adjusted if further rounds are lost.
