Life Member Inductees – AGM 2024

At our recent AGM we inducted 2 of our club members to Life Membership. 💚💙

🌟 Life Membership Inductee: Amanda Flynn 🌟
We are proud to award Amanda Flynn a Life Membership at St Mary’s Sporting Club in recognition of her outstanding contributions and dedication to the club over many years.
As a long-term supporter and Board member, Amanda has played an integral role in shaping the club’s success. Her creative touch and attention to detail were evident in every event she helped organise during her tenure as Events and Fundraising Coordinator—each one a visual and logistical triumph, thanks to her artistic flair.
Amanda has always been driven by a desire to improve the club, consistently challenging the Board to find better ways to operate, but at the heart of her vision was always a commitment to ensuring that kids, both on and off the field, had a positive and rewarding experience. This passion led her to the pivotal role of Director of St Mary’s Sporting Club Female Football, a position she held for seven years.

In this role, Amanda worked tirelessly behind the scenes in football administration, planning, and logistics, playing a key part in the success of our female football program. Notably, she was instrumental in creating the club’s first Female Football Strategic Plan, which aligned with the AFL Women’s Football Vision for 2021-2030. Thanks to Amanda’s leadership and advocacy, our female program has flourished, and we are now proud to have a record 8 teams—making us the first and only club in the Geelong region with a female team in every age group, from U9s to Seniors.

Amanda has always worked to ensure that St Mary’s is an inclusive, supportive, and welcoming space for all women and girls involved in football. In 2021, she launched a mentoring program that paired senior players with juniors to foster community and encourage growth, both on and off the field.

Additionally, Amanda established a Scholarship Fund that allocates a portion of each senior female football membership to support young players who may need financial assistance to participate in the sport. She also organized our annual Pride Round for the first five years, which included an educational session for the entire club focused on diversity and inclusion.

Amanda’s unwavering commitment to the growth of female football and to building a more inclusive and diverse club community has had an immeasurable impact on all of us.
Well done, Amanda! Your hard work, vision, and dedication continue to inspire us all. 💙💛

🏆 Life Membership Nominee: Tim “Rock” McMahon 🏆
We are proud to announce that Tim (Rock) McMahon has been awarded Life Membership at our AGM on 15th December 2024.
Tim’s incredible contributions to St. Mary’s Sporting Club throughout the 1980s and 1990s have left a lasting legacy.

A premiership player with over 190 games under his belt, Tim came just short of automatic life membership as a player, but his dedication didn’t stop there. After his playing career, Tim became an invaluable support to the club, particularly in the junior section, where he was a constant presence and volunteer as his two sons progressed from Auskick through the juniors.

Tim is totally a selflessness person—whether it was early morning junior games or stepping in to lend a hand, he was always ready to help without seeking recognition. Tim has also been a generous sponsor of the club for many years through his company, PJT, and continues to offer unwavering support behind the scenes, much of the work he has done is ‘invisible’ but so valuable.

There is no one more deserving of this honour than Tim “Rock” McMahon. His dedication to the club and community is truly unmatched.
Let’s congratulate Tim on this well-deserved nomination! 🎉👏
