A Message From the Club President – John McMahon

Dear Fellow Members

You will be aware of recent media articles (GA 8 Jan) suggesting the transfer of management responsibilities from the City of Greater Geelong (CoGG) to the Kardinia Park Trust, a  state government body administered in Melbourne.

The transfer principle received bipartisan support prior to the recent state election and it now appears imminent under the new government.

The establishment processes have not been transparent and other Park tenants including Geelong Cricket Club, Geelong Netball association and the Geelong Umpires League have had not consultation in respect to appointments of members to the Trust, be they interim appointments or long term or indeed the processes for their appointment.

This advice to you is an assurance that the Board through myself and our Secretary Dennis Davie, with assistance from Scott Hosking and Sean Blood, are closely monitoring developments and providing the lead role in ensuring our, St. Mary’s Sporting Club rights within the park are protected.

In response to questions we put to Mr. Steve Bracks in respect to the lack of transparency in the establishment processes for the Trust, he responded that a response will be forthcoming.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have but please understand we do not have any answers to the myriad of questions that this issue raises.

We are committed to protecting our interests and will keep you informed of any developments as they occur.

Regards
John (Little Jock) McMahon
President
