Junior football update

The following is an update of junior information along with some clarification and update on changes to apply for the 2016 season for juniors.

Registration / Membership

Club Clothing
Club Clothing will soon be able to be ordered online however in the interim, clothing will be on display in the clubrooms Mon- Thurs between 5.30-6.30pm over the next few weeks . Orders can be taken at the club. The club has a new range of clothing along with customised football and netball socks with club logo.

Footy Shorts clarification
There has been some mixed messages in relation to footy shorts for season 2016. We apologies for the mix up, whilst we have limited shorts in stock we were told that St.Mary’s footy shorts would be stocked at Rebel and Degrandi’s.

This now will not be the case, both stores will no longer buy in club shorts and are running down their stock with discounted pricing. All St.Mary’s shorts in both stores have been sold. . The club will have to specifically order shorts for the 2016 season through AFL Barwon.

There are 2 types of shorts you can purchase:
Custom design shorts – Which includes the St.Mary’s logo and other required logos – price $40 (delivery time 4-6 weeks)
Off the shelf shorts – Which include the required logos from the league. – Price $35 (delivery time 2 weeks)
You will note these prices are higher than what we had on registration day as De Grandi sold us marked down costs for their in stock shorts. Off the shelf shorts retail for $45 at De Grandis. We are pricing based on cost through football Geelong.

At this stage U14 and U16 top two divisions will also be wearing white shorts for away games.

Sizes available are: Size 3 extra small, Size 2 extra small, Size 1 extra small, Extra small, Small, Medium, Large, 2 extra large, 3 extra large.

Footy Boots
We now have a number of pairs of football boots handed in to the club. With boys growing so quickly and needing boots each year a great opportunity to save some $$ and come and buy some boots for $10. All funds from the sale of boots will go towards the fundraising for Sth African 2016 trip. All left over boots will be taken to Sth Africa and given to the Sth African boys. Anyone who has boots to drop off you can drop them off on any training night and pass on to Kevin McMahon or leave in the change rooms. Boots will be on display during training nights if people want to purchase a pair or drop off any unused boots.

U9 Minimum age change
The AFL has announced a change in their ruling for under 9 age footballers which was passed through on Monday 7th March 2016. The new rule has allowed any boy who is born prior to April 30 2009 can now play under 9 football. The previous rule had a cut – off date of 31 December 2008. Any boys who fall into this category can now if they like register to play U9 football this year or alternatively have another year in Auskick.

U9 – U10 Rule changes
The AFL has introduced new rules for all junior games state wide. Attached is a copy of the changes which outlines each age group. We will be working with coaches and players to help adjust to changes.

U9 – U12 Information night
An information session will be held for all junior U9 – U12 parents on Monday 21st March 2016 (this date has moved from Thursday 17-3 due to a funeral, apologies for short notice)

U14 Camp

Training
U16 Training has moved back to Monday and Wednesday nights commencing 16-3-2016.
U14 Training has moved back to Tuesday and Thursday commencing 15-3-2016.
U12 Training commenced Thursday 10 March and will be held every Thursday.
U9 – U11 Training will commence on Thursday 31 March with optional training on Thursday 24 March for those around.

Weekend of 9, 10, 11 of April.
