2018 SMSC Junior Netball Trials details

• Trial for a Saturday team
• Trial for a Friday night graded team
• Play socially in a Friday team

Players who miss out on the final round of selection for a Saturday team will trial for a Friday night team if interested.  Ideally players who miss out in the final round are likely to make one of the top teams for Friday night netball.

Do you need to attend trials?

Players who wish to play in a Saturday team or play in a GRADED Friday night team must attend trials.  Players who want to play socially Friday night and DO NOT want to play in a graded Friday night team, DO NOT need to register for trials.

Age Groups

Age groups are as follows including 1 January through to 31 December –

11/U: 2009 – 2007
13/U: 2006 – 2005
15/U: 2004 – 2003
17/U: 2002 – 2001

Please note players will be placed within teams in their correct age group unless there is extenuating circumstances and space available in a team.

11/U Players

For players eligible to play 11U in 2018 we will hold two skills sessions from which we will place players with like ability players. 

2018 Trial Details for Saturday teams:

Junior Netball Trials for Saturday teams will commence Sunday 11 February at Kardinia Park Netball Courts for players who did not play in a Saturday team for St Mary’s Sporting Club (SMSC) in 2017 and for players that are new to our Club.  

To participate in any trials players must first register using our online forms below.

Those players who have played in a Saturday team for SMSC in 2017 (regardless of age group) will attend their first trial on Thursday 15 February.

Players should wear a white t-shirt and dark shorts or short compression pants.  We must be able to write on the players leg so please do not wear long full length pants.  Players should wear sunscreen and bring a drink bottle and towel to each session.

Round One
Sunday 11 February – SMSC New players and new to Saturday netball at SMSC
(Did not play in any Saturday team at St Mary’s in 2017)
13/U trials – Check-in at 9:00 am. Trials commence at 9:15 -10:45 am
15/U trials – Check-in at 10:00 am. Trials commence at 10:15am – 12pm
17/U trials – Check-in at 10:00 am. Trials commence at 10:15am – 12pm (depending on registered numbers)

Round Two
Thursday 15 February – Players selected from Round One and players who played in a Saturday team for St Mary’s in 2017
13/U trials – Check-in at 3:45pm. Trials commence at 4 – 5pm
15/U trials – Check-in at 4:45pm. Trials commence at 5 – 6pm
17/U trials – Check-in at 4:45pm. Trials commence at 5 – 6pm

Round Three
Sunday 18 February – Players selected from Round two
13/U trials – Check-in at 9:00 am. Trials commence at 9:15 -10:45 am
15/U trials – Check-in at 10:00 am. Trials commence at 10:15am – 12pm
17/U trials – Check-in at 10:00 am. Trials commence at 10:15am – 12pm

Friday Night Junior Netball – 13/U, 15/U, 17/U

Players interested in playing in a graded team on Friday night must attend the grading sessions:

Round One
Thursday 22 February – All players interested in playing in a graded Friday night team
15/U trials – Check-in at 3:45pm. Trials commence at 4 – 5pm – Note time change
13/U trials – Check-in at 4:45pm. Trials commence at 5 – 6pm – Note time change
17/U trials – Check-in at 4:45pm. Trials commence at 5 – 6pm

Round Two
Sunday 25 February – Round Robin All players interested in playing in a graded Friday night team
13/U trials – Check-in at 9:00 am. Trials commence at 9:15 -10:45 am
15/U trials – Check-in at 10:00 am. Trials commence at 10:15am – 12pm
17/U trials – Check-in at 10:00 am. Trials commence at 10:15am – 12pm
