Junior Netball Trial Information
Plans for season 2020 are now underway and will look a little different to how it has looked in previous years so if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Carolyn Keast or Bern Boxer to discuss.
Our trial process will begin first week back of the school term as usual. We are beginning with trials first and once teams are selected, we will run a couple of weeks of preseason and then begin team training for approximately 3-4 weeks before the season begins.
SATURDAY TRIALS –
Players are to wear plain white t-shirt and black shorts or black bike shorts.
TRIAL 1 – THURSDAY JANUARY 30th
This trial is for all girls new to the club who would like to play Saturdays as well as for any current St Mary’s players who have played Friday nights in season 2019 and would like to trial for a Saturday team in 2020. Times will be follows –
- U13 & U15 Registration – 3.45pm – 4.00pm. Trials 4.00pm – 5.00pm
- U17 – Registration 4.45pm – 5.00pm. Trials 5.00pm – 6.00pm
TRIAL 2 – SUNDAY FEBRUARY 2nd
This trial is for all girls who have been asked to return from the first trial (30/1) along with current Saturday players who would like to retrial for Saturdays in season 2020. Any player who does not get asked back after this trial will be invited to attend our grading trials for the Friday night winter competition. See dates below.
Times will be as follows –
- U13, U15 & U17 Registration – 8.45am – 9.00am. Trials 9.00am – 11.00am
TRIAL 3 – THURSDAY FEBRUARY 6th
This trial is for all players who have been asked to return from the second trial (2/2) Any player who was not asked back from the 2nd trial will be invited to attend our grading trials for the Friday night winter competition. See dates below. Times for all age groups will be confirmed.
TRIAL 4 – SUNDAY FEBRUARY 9th
This date has been set aside for if we need more trialling time.
NOTE :1) Before committing your daughter to Saturday trials we ask that you consider your availability across the season. The Saturday competition is extremely competitive and we require all girls to commit to the season. If you know that you are going on an extended family holiday or your daughter has an extended school camp/trip that will impact the season, we would like you to discuss this with us before the trials begin please. This is a club policy we would like you to support as we play a team game and we want to make sure our teams aren’t jeopardised during the season. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

FRIDAY TRIALS
TRIAL 1 – THURSDAY FEBRUARY 13th
This trial is for all girls wanting to play in a graded Friday night competition. This will involve current players who have played Friday nights and want to continue to do so as well as players who have been asked to return after the first Saturday trial on 30/1. Times for all age groups will be confirmed.
TRIAL 2 – SUNDAY FEBRUARY 16th
Follow up trial for all players wanting to be placed in a graded Friday night team in season 2020. Times for all age groups will be confirmed.
NOTE :1) If you would like to register your daughter for Friday trials please email your daughters name and the age group she will be trialling for in 2020 asap so we can prepare trial teams. See below for email details.
If your daughter ONLY wants to play in a social team they WILL NOT need to trial at all. If they know the girls in the team they would like to play with then please send us a list of their names asap so we can account for them in a team straight away.
U 11 PROGRAM

SENIOR TRIALS
As of 2020 all junior players eligible for the U17 competition are able to trial for a senior team at St Mary’s. The players would need to be able to participate in the trials (please see dates below). Senior selectors will be involved in this process not the junior team. All junior players wishing to trial for a senior position, will still need to fulfill their position in their junior team first and the senior team second.
Senior Netball trial dates are as follows and you must REGISTER HERE if you would like to take part.
- Tuesday 4th February 6pm – 7.15pm
- Thursday 6th February 6pm – 7.15pm
- Thursday 13th February 6pm – 7pm
DRAW
Round 1 – First Saturday game will be played on Saturday April 4th away in Colac so all players will be required to travel to Central Reserve Colac this day.
Easter – Easter Sunday is April 12th and NO netball will be played on this weekend.
Round 2 – Resumes on Saturday April 18th at home V St Josephs and this will be a night game so as per 2019 game times will be altered for a late start. More information to come.
Round 3 – Saturday April 25th second night game at home V Newtown ( as above)As these are not a usual start to our season we think it is good for you to be aware of this asap. The full draw can be accessed from AFL Barwon’s website.
NOTE ; Friday and Tuesday draws have not yet been released.
