Thank you to all our volunteers

It’s National Volunteers Week – We are better together!
St Mary’s Sporting Club simply would not exist without an army of volunteers who consistently give their time, effort and enthusiasm to ensure our Club not only survives but thrives. Our men’s and women’s football teams, senior netball, junior football and netball and Auskick all rely on a team of volunteers each week to get the players on the field and on the court.

To those of you who deep fry the chips, sweep out the rooms, pour a beer, sell a raffle ticket, score a game, sell uniforms, place the padding on the posts, strap the players before a game, work the barbeque, cut up the oranges, help out at training, wash the footy jumpers, enter the results in the computer, order trophies, organise functions, chase sponsors, stack the fridges and turn out the lights at the end of the day – we thank you.

We could not do it without the trainers, coaches, bar staff, canteen workers, timekeepers, team managers, coordinators, umpires, and all our volunteers.

Each of us must play our part, and there must be an expectation that we all should volunteer during the year. This might involve assisting with a shift in the canteen, signing in visitors, working a shift in the bar, helping out before a Geelong game, cooking the barbeque or getting involved in fundraising or training. Each of these small tasks adds up and shares the workload across many.

You can be assured that all new helpers will be welcomed and well supported by experienced volunteers, and that any help will be gratefully and graciously received.

Volunteers thank you

This Friday, 20 May, 6-7:30 pm, the Board invites all people from the Club including all families, existing volunteers, new and existing members to join us in the clubrooms for some drinks and some finger food to celebrate and recognise our volunteers as well as meet other people involved in the club. This is a great chance to meet the Board and connect with players, parents, members and supporters who give their time and effort to our Club.

Again, I sincerely thank our volunteers and look forward to seeing you in the clubrooms on Friday night.
