📣 May update – A Message from the President 📣
What a great start to the 2025 season.
We have already held a Halo and Sponsor function. Our Men’s Senior Football Team and Senior Women’s Div 1 football team are both undefeated, and we had 270 odd Auskickers out on the field last Friday night. Also, our Senior and Junior netball teams are playing well, with strong wins against Lara last week.
PINK SPORTS DAY
This Saturday is Pink Day (Saturday, 11 May 2025), when we celebrate Mother’s Day as a Club and raise money for Breast Cancer Network Australia. The netballers will run a raffle, with all proceeds going to BCNA. All women of the Club are invited to an afternoon tea at the Clubrooms from 3 p.m., with entry via a gold coin donation. Merchandise and pink donuts will be on sale on the day, so please get behind this very important cause.
BIG FREEZE
The Big Freeze Geelong is almost here, and this is a reminder that we are hosting this event on Sunday, June 1st, at the game against St Joseph’s. This is going to be a massive day at Anthony Costa Oval, with Men’s and Junior football being played, as well as Senior and Junior netball, Women’s football, and an All Abilities game on the adjacent oval.
This is a reminder that the Club will need to work together to organise and staff the event adequately. As we expect a mammoth crowd, we need volunteers to work in the canteen and BBQs on the day. Please volunteer to do a shift on the day to spread the workload amongst all of us. Sign up today!
Thanks to Mandy Williams and Tara Alsop for their assistance with the merchandise. Thanks also to all supporters and businesses who have offered to purchase the socks for our senior and junior football and netball teams that the players will wear over that weekend. The Club truly appreciates your support.
Don’t forget to come along and support (or laugh at) the St Mary’s people going down the slide. Myself, Jock McMahon, Caitlin Thwaites, Peter Murrihy and Brit Bonnici appreciate your support and your sponsorship dollars that will go to MND.
Beanies and socks will be available for purchase starting this Thursday and will be at Auskick on Friday.

NETBALL NEWS
Congratulations to our very own Mia Aitken, who recently won a silver medal playing for Victoria at Nationals and has now been chosen in the 19-and-under Australian Squad. Thanks to Kylie Power, who is doing a wonderful job as an umpire mentor to our junior umpires who cover our club games.
CONDOLENCES
St Mary’s is deeply saddened by the sad passing of Kellie Loving, wife of Scott Loving and mother of Haami and Kyahn. Kellie was a much-loved member of the St Mary’s family. She loved watching Haami play junior footy for St Mary’s and was an enthusiastic and vocal supporter. Last round, our Senior men and Under 14 players wore black armbands to honour Kellie. We send our love and support to Scott and the boys at this very sad time. Kellie will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
