SMSC 2025 Grand Final Day and Celebrations
What a day for the Saints! Grand Final Friday 2025 will go down as one of the most remarkable in St Mary’s Sporting Club history; a day where spirit, skill and teamwork combined to deliver five premierships across football and netball.
The Saints faithful turned Kardinia Park and GMHBA Stadium green and blue, with cheers echoing across every court and oval as our teams rose to the occasion in true St Mary’s style.
Senior Men – Premiers
In a powerhouse performance, our Senior Men claimed the ultimate prize, sealing the premiership with poise and determination. From the opening bounce, the Saints controlled the contest with relentless pressure and precise ball movement. Led by Captain Jack Blood, the team’s unity and resilience shone through, culminating in an outstanding season of consistency and belief.
Reserves Men (Development team) – Premiers
Not to be outdone, the Reserves side produced a commanding display to secure back-to-back flags. With strength and structure across every line, they showcased the depth of the Saints’ football program and the powerful culture that runs through the club. The win reflected months of hard work, discipline, and team-first football.
B Grade Netball – Premiers
Our B Grade netballers were unstoppable, lifting the trophy after a thrilling Grand Final that had the crowd on edge until the final whistle, after a drawn game at full-time and two lots of extra five minutes. Their precision passing, relentless defence, and sheer determination saw them overcome a fierce South Barwon outfit. The celebrations said it all — pure joy and pride.
C Grade Netball – Premiers and Champions (Undefeated Season)
A flawless season from start to finish! The C Grade team went through 2025 undefeated, earning the title of Premiers and Champions. Their unity, consistency, and composure set the standard all year, and they saved their best for last with a commanding Grand Final performance. Every player contributed to an incredible campaign built on teamwork, trust, and belief — a true reflection of the Saints’ spirit.
15 & Under Division 2 Netball – Premiers
Our youngest premiership team showed maturity beyond their years. The U15 Division 2 girls combined calmness and confidence to secure a well-deserved title. After a draw at full-time, two five-minute ends followed, with the young Saints winning out. They’re the future of the Saints, and their success reflects the strong pathways, coaches, and mentors guiding our junior programs.
A Club united
From the first siren to the final cheer, Grand Final day was about more than just trophies — it was about people. Volunteers, coaches, trainers, umpires, parents and supporters all played their part in making the day unforgettable.
Club President Sally Flynn summed it up best:
“To see five premierships in one day is extraordinary, but what makes it truly special is the way our entire club came together across football, netball, juniors and seniors to support one another. It’s what being a Saint is all about.”
💚💙 Celebrating together
With five cups now proudly displayed at St Mary’s, the celebrations rolled into Presentation Night, where players and supporters reflected on an unforgettable season. Congratulations to all involved — 2025 will be remembered as the year the Saints stood tall.
