2027 Junior Coaching Expressions of Interest
St Mary’s Sporting Club is now seeking Expressions of Interest for junior football coaching roles for the 2027 season.
Our junior football program is an important part of St Mary’s and provides a pathway for young players from their first experience of football through to senior football.
We are looking for enthusiastic, committed and positive people who want to help our young players develop their football, build confidence, enjoy the game and feel part of the St Mary’s community.
Expressions of Interest are welcomed for both male and female football programs, including Coach, Assistant Coach and other football development roles.
What we expect from a St Mary’s junior coach
Coaching at St Mary’s is about much more than winning games. Our coaches play an important role in creating the environment experienced by our players and families.
We expect our junior coaches to:
- put player development, enjoyment and wellbeing at the centre of the program
- create a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for every player
- provide all players with meaningful opportunities to learn and develop
- coach in a positive and age-appropriate manner
- demonstrate and reinforce the values and behaviours expected at St Mary’s
- treat players, parents, volunteers, opposition teams and officials with respect
- work constructively with other St Mary’s coaches and football coordinators
- support the development pathway between St Mary’s junior and senior football programs
- communicate appropriately and respectfully with players and families
- comply with St Mary’s policies, Codes of Conduct and Child Safety requirements
- hold or obtain the required coaching accreditation
- hold a current Working with Children Check where required
We also expect coaches to understand that they are part of one St Mary’s football program. Team success is important, but it should never come at the expense of player development, participation, wellbeing or the broader interests of the Club.
