Return to small outdoor group training update May 22, 2020

Some of you may have seen the protocols set out by AFL Victoria and Netball Victoria to allow for the recommencement of training for Community Clubs with very strict guidelines and restrictions. Attached are both documents for you to read through so you understand the terms under which our training sessions will recommence at the club.

Our Board has met to discuss our club’s plan for Return to Small Outdoor Group Training for both netball and football sections and have devised a ‘tiered’ system of the recommencement, starting with senior squads only next week.
We hope to follow with other age groups, oldest to youngest as the restrictions are revised and once our volunteers become proficient in the procedures we have to follow to comply with the protocols.
Going forward, we will communicate every Friday for the week ahead as to which teams will be recommencing their training and adapt as necessary based on direction from AFL Victoria, Netball Victoria and the State Government at any given time.

We understand that many players and families are keen to get back to training but under the protocols and current State Government requirements around social distancing and gatherings, we are restricted in the number of people who can train at any one time and place. The health and safety of players, coaches, support staff & club officials remains our top priority and we are duty bound to adhere to hygiene protocols to minimise the risk of the spread of COVID-19.
We are strongly recommending that all our members, particularly those who will be starting to return to the club, download the COVID-19 App so any outbreaks can be traced easily and the impact on our club and members is minimised.

Though we are excited at the prospect of getting everybody back to the club and enjoying our space together soon, we are proceeding with caution and remaining compliant on all levels. We appreciate your understanding as we navigate the return to training and ask that you direct any questions you may have about this plan to your age-level coordinator or coach.

All AFL Barwon competitions and programs remain postponed until May 31, and no decision on a return to play date has been made.
